Welcome to my website.

In this website, I'll tell you a little about myself, and about the process of the therapy I offer, so that you can make the right choice for yourself.

Most people will find the idea of needing someone to help them with their problems quite difficult - we tend to believe that we're 'supposed' to cope without other people's help. And the task of finding the right person to help you can be rather daunting, especially if you haven't done this before, or don't know what your options are.

With over 30 years experience of helping people in a variety of settings, it's very likely that however strange or unusual your problem may seem to you, I'll have met someone with similar difficulties.

I've worked with and helped people of all ages and stages in their lives with all kinds of difficulties - individuals, couples and young people, as well as parents and grandparents who have concerns about their children or grandchildren, so I can offer counselling for a wide range of issues.

There can be a lot of complicated-sounding words and phrases used to describe the process of therapy, but I've found a more down-to-earth approach helps put clients at their ease - I know how hard it can be to take the step of getting help with your difficulties - so I've always tried to remain as jargon-free as possible in my sessions. Counselling isn't meant to be 'cosy', but I believe there's no need to make it more off-putting than it needs to be! And sometimes a little humour is important, too - if only to remind us that even the worst of things come to an end, eventually.

If you look at the next pages, I'll explain a bit about what your sessions may be like and what I can help with, and I'll tell you about my experience and qualifications - an important thing to check before you chose your therapist.
